Dear Reflection
Why are your eyes so sad? I see you in the mirror surrounded by fog and I can’t help but stare. You’re eyes are strange. How is it they show so much? I see you’re fears and your sadness. But somewhere inside those emerald nights I see love and hope.
Why are you so clouded with sadness? Can’t you see the light? I hate how you look. You refuse to smile at me, yet the child in you is screaming at me. All you want is peace. I’d love to give you that peace. With your peace I’d find my own serenity in this world.
If they only knew what we know reflection, would they look at me as I look at you? Would they feel the flames of pain and sadness that consumes us? Could they possibly understand? Maybe we’re the only ones. At least we have each other. The one person that will never leave you is your reflection, and for that I love you. Even if I can’t understand myself its good to know I’m not the only one. These are questions that we’ll answer slowly over time, but today is not the time. So I’ll wipe away the fog and walk absently from this mirror and leave you in the dark once more.
